With over 25 years experience building and creating professional communities, Gregg Rock is recognized as an industry leader in professional training and education vital to helping enterprise organizations support their transformation initiatives. His work has been recognized in the Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Financial Times, CIO Magazine, and New York Times. Throughout his career Gregg has developed communities, hosted executive networking forums and the formation of advisory boards on topics ranging from IT security and outsourcing to multimedia and Y2K, but is most widely associated with his accomplishments in the areas of Business Process Management (BPM), Digital Business (DBiz), Business Architecture (BA), and Cloud Computing. BPM in particular is a widely accepted approach for designing enterprise organizational and information systems. This focus on process-related skills is creating demand for BPM content, collaboration, and training resources by corporations—a niche Gregg has spent years to fill. In 1997, Gregg founded BrainStorm Group and the network of BrainStorm Communities, consisting of discipline-specific web portals for BPM, BA, and SOA practitioners to network and receive education, professional training online and through live in-person events. This has enabled over 100,000 practitioners from over 125 countries to collaborate and share best practices, online and face-to-face. BrainStorm Communities feature a comprehensive suite of member services including newsletters, discussion groups, blogs, virtual and live events, live and online training, certificate programs, and professional certification. During his tenure, Gregg has produced more than 100 industry events in North America, South America, EMEA, and Australia attended by over 300,000 professionals. He led the development of the Certified Business Process Management Professional program. Harnessing the collective intelligence of leading BPM subject matter experts, this certification establishes an objective evaluation of a BPM professional’s knowledge, skill, and ability. He recently led the launch of BrainStorm's newest Community, focused on Digital Business and Transformation - DBizInstitute.org. Gregg also earned his private pilot license in 1991 and remains an active member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). When not flying, he’s active in his community and enjoys coaching little league, soccer, and lacrosse for his children.

Enhancing Your Team’s BPM Capabilities: The Value of External Expertise

In today’s dynamic business environment, managing and improving business processes is critical for any organization aiming to maintain a competitive edge. Many companies consider handling Business Process Management (BPM) training internally, believing it to be more straightforward and cost-effective. However, the complexities and breadth of BPM often require more than just internal knowledge to master effectively. Here’s why external training can be invaluable:

Comprehensive Coverage of BPM

What is BPM?

Business Process Management (BPM) involves analyzing, designing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving organizational processes. It integrates various disciplines to ensure that processes are efficient and effective, aligning with the organization’s strategic goals.

Holistic Approach to BPM:

Our training programs cover every aspect of BPM, not just the basics:

Strategic Alignment: Ensuring that all process improvements support the organization’s overall strategy.
Governance: Establishing clear policies and rules to manage process changes effectively.

Process Modeling and Design: Creating detailed maps and models that guide the actual process operations.
Process Automation: Leveraging software and technology to automate and enhance processes.

Performance Management: Monitoring processes to ensure they meet performance targets.

Culture and Change Management: Navigating the human aspects of process change to ensure buy-in and compliance from all stakeholders.

This extensive coverage ensures that your team not only learns how to execute BPM effectively but also understands how to align these processes with larger business objectives.

Advantages of External Training Over Internal Efforts

Expertise and Experience:

External trainers bring a diverse range of experience across various industries, offering insights and best practices that surpass what internal resources can offer. Their broad perspective helps identify effective strategies and common pitfalls that are not apparent from within the organization. External trainers are also more likely to bring knowledge and experience with new and emerging advancements in technology.

Customized Training Solutions:

External programs are tailored to address specific organizational challenges, providing a viewpoint that helps uncover areas often missed by internal teams. This customization extends to adapting training scenarios to reflect real-world situations pertinent to the organization, making learning more relevant and impactful.

Objective Evaluation and Feedback:

An external training provider can offer unbiased assessments of current processes and provide feedback without the influence of internal politics or biases. This objectivity fosters meaningful improvements and encourages a culture of transparency and continuous learning.

Addressing the Drawbacks of Self-Directed Learning

While self-directed learning offers flexibility, structured external programs provide substantial advantages:

Comprehensive Learning Path: Ensures a thorough understanding of BPM through a systematically designed curriculum that builds knowledge progressively.

Interactive Learning: Sessions are designed to be interactive, incorporating practical exercises and real-world examples that improve retention and fully engage participants.

Accountability and Motivation: Scheduled training sessions with clear milestones and assessments help maintain motivation and commitment.

Expert Facilitation: Experienced trainers are adept at identifying and addressing individual and group learning needs, adjusting the training in real-time to ensure comprehensive understanding.

Conclusion

Relying solely on internal resources for BPM training overlooks the strategic, technological, and complex aspects of process management that external experts are equipped to teach. By partnering with external trainers, your organization can benefit from a broader perspective, tailored solutions, and a structured approach to learning that internal efforts alone cannot provide.

We invite you to discuss how our specialized training solutions can enhance your BPM initiatives and help achieve significant improvements in your organizational performance. Your success is our priority, and we look forward to the opportunity to contribute to your team’s expertise and operational excellence.
